Finally, some sunshine. Rain, fog and clouds are about all we've seen
in the last week. Now, do we dare to go back to Livoberezhzhya to get
to the beach...? (Note: We wrote that first part half an hour ago. It
is now pouring rain. We are soaked.)
We're trying to figure out how to
fit in. Or at least not be immediately identified as foreigners.
Besides the unfortunate truths of Kyiv life, like being fluent in
Russian or wearing long pants even in sweltering heat, there must be
something we can do. On Maidan, two Kyivans spotted us from a distance,
came up to us and asked (in English) where we're from. After a two
minute conversation about Canada, they asked us if we would like to buy
guns and ammo. Nope, we're all set on that front... Ukrainians need to
work on making their conversational segues a bit more seamless.
We conveniently managed to be right in front of Vesuvio Pizza when the rain started... Smachnoho to us!
Hmm… don’t know why. I would think that everyone in Ukraina wears baseball caps, hoodies, Winnipeg Bomber jerseys, day packs, I AM CANADIAN t-shirts and white fluorescent sneakers that yell out ME A TOURIST? NO WAY!, lol. BTW after reading this Babtsia & Mama crossed themselves and said Oy Bozhe! Lyubov
